About the book
In the maintenance and conservation of our planet's biodiversity, knowledge of ecological patterns and processes in terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems have outstanding importance. The reduction of ecosystem services plays a key role in the group of phenomena that is called the global ecological crisis. The survival of mankind and the sustainability of society depend on ecosystem services provided by natural ecosystems. Only a healthy biosphere is able to regulate the climate of the Earth and keep it in a range suitable for us.
After some methodological chapters and general ecosystem ecological approaches, we would like to collect of newest results of biodiversity research of natural ecosystems (forests, grasslands, deserts, freshwater habitats, marine habitats), agroecosystems (croplands, orchards, plantations, aquaculture, agroforestry) and urban habitats (cities, towns, parks, industrial areas, road network).
Through this book-project, we try to give a detailed and useful collection and a good report about the frontiers of this interesting and very important scientific area.
