About the book
This book is meant for understanding the basics of normal labor and abnormal labor. It could be used as a handbook for midwifery students, undergraduate medical students, and trainee nurses during their posting in the labor room. The book will give an overview of antenatal care in low-risk pregnancy and will try to explain the anatomy of the maternal pelvis and the fetal skull and the mechanics and management of normal labor.
One of the chapters will be dedicated to the "Partogram " as an essential tool to monitor the progress of labor. The chapter will elaborate the need for intervention by the obstetrician and when it is required, the reasons for maternal and fetal\neonatal morbidity and mortality, and the interventions needed to reduce them.
We would like to conclude the book with topics on the set up of a delivery suite, and the teamwork required to run a labor room efficiently, minimizing the maternal and neonatal risks.
