About the book

Knowledge in the field of retinal diseases has been radically changed over the past ten years by the development of both new techniques and instrumentation, with improvements in surgical machines and diagnostic tools.

The aim of this book is to report the latest developments in the field of retinal diseases, from pathogenesis to diagnosis, and both medical and surgical approaches to the management of retinal diseases. The book's core will be focused on the developments and new perspectives of treatment for some retinal diseases (i.e., diabetic retinopathy and dry and neovascular AMD). It further will discuss the pathophysiology, imaging, and treatment of retinal diseases, also considering biologic disease markers and new drugs being developed.

The indications for surgery have expanded dramatically, and inoperable conditions have become amenable to surgical treatment. This book will also intend to provide the reader with a comprehensive overview of the current state-of-the-art of the best surgical approach for many vitreoretinal diseases with the latest developments in the surgical field of the retina that enable improved surgical outcomes.
