About the book

"Globally, 570,000 cases per year in women and 60,000 cases in men are caused by HPV, respectively, 8.6% and 0.8% of all cancers occurring worldwide. HPV AF in women ranges from <3% in Australia/New Zealand and the US to 26% in sub-Saharan Africa. In general, HPV is thought to be responsible for more than 90% of anal and cervical cancers, about 70% of vaginal and vulvar cancers, and more than 60% of penile cancers. About 70% of cancers of the oropharynx may be linked to HPV.

The WHO in 2017, launched a very unique and ambitious program of ""Elimination of Cervical Cancer as a Public Health problem, by 2030"". This is the First time in the History of Global Health, a Cancer is aimed for Elimination. All the other elimination and eradication programs were for Infectious Diseases. Elimination of HPV infections and Cervical Cancer as a Public Health problem, bringing down the Incidence rate of Cervical cancer to below 4 per 100,000, are the NEO CHALLENGES.

The trident strategies of WHO, for meeting these challenges, are the NEXT GEN SOLUTIONS:
1. 90% of girls fully vaccinated with HPV vaccine by age 15 years.
2. 70% of women are screened with a high-performance test by 35 years and again by 45 years
3. 90% of women identified with cervical disease receive treatment (90% of women with precancer treated, and 90% of women with invasive cancer managed

This book “glows in teal”, committing itself, to the noble task of elimination of HPV infections and related cancers. This book has, well experienced and dedicated scientists from all over the world, contributing chapters in the fields of Epidemiology of HPV; HPV Vaccination – Efficacy – acceptance, affordability and policies; Pathophysiology and carcinogenesis of HPV; Hi-Tech screening protocols, methodologies for HPV testing; Diagnosis and treatment of Pre cancers and invasive cancers due to HPV; Prevention and control of Papillomaviridae infections and related Cancers of Cervix, Vagina, Vulva, Penis, Anus and Oropharynx.

We, firmly hope that the knowledge shared in this book would immensely contribute to the global goal of elimination of Papillomavidae and related cancers, and serve as a beacon of “teal light” symbolizing cancer eradication, from the lighthouse of Scientific wisdom and Social welfare, The InTech publishers."

Introducing your Author Service Manager

Ms. Nera Butigan

As an Author Service Manager, my responsibilities include monitoring and facilitating all publishing activities for authors and editors. From chapter submission and review to approval and revision, copyediting and design, until final publication, I work closely with authors and editors to ensure a simple and easy publishing process. I maintain constant and effective communication with authors, editors, and reviewers, which allows for a level of personal support that enables contributors to fully commit and concentrate on the chapters they are writing, editing or reviewing. I assist authors in preparing their full chapter submissions and track important deadlines to ensure they are met. I help to coordinate internal processes such as linguistic review and monitor the technical aspects of the process. As an ASM I am also involved in the acquisition of editors. Whether that be identifying an exceptional author and proposing an editorship collaboration, or contacting researchers who would like the opportunity to work with IntechOpen, I establish and help manage author and editor acquisition and contact.
