About the book
The hand is one of the most complex systems we can find in nature. Throughout history it has always been the center of many cultures, the inspiration in works of art, and a certain of enigma and mystery to everyone who has ever tried to understand it. The aim of this book is to provide the reader with a comprehensive and state-of-the-art overview of the normal hand, starting with its embryology. Learning the basic principles of embryology will help us understand each and every single element we can find in a normal hand. The next step will be to learn its anatomy, basically dividing it in surface anatomy and deep anatomy, starting with the skin, joints, tendons, nerves, arteries and bones. Once we have understood the anatomy, we will learn the basic functions of the hand, and how each element interact to make the hand one of the most precise, essential, and fascinating elements in our nature.
