About the book

The book aims to present up-to-date information on pediatric oncology: statistical data (morbidity, mortality), approaches to treatment, and differences from adult oncology. Chapters dedicated to hemoblastoses, solid tumors, and tumors of the central nervous system will be highlighted. Current information on cancer immunotherapy, including the use of dendritic vaccines, as well as a section on bone marrow transplantation and high-dose chemotherapy, will be included. Despite combination therapy, including surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy, the overall five-year survival rate for some nosologies and common stages remains at a low level. The emergence of new immunotherapy strategies was the beginning of a new direction in the treatment of this category of patients. The description of such innovative approaches to treatment will also be presented on the pages of the book. For example, immunotherapy may be an attractive option for the treatment of patients with high-grade malignant gliomas that are not amenable to traditional therapy and deserves further study. Thus, this scientific guide will serve as a collection of comprehensive information on the most modern approaches to the treatment of children with hemoblastoses and solid tumors.
