About the book

The concern for environmental safety, agricultural sustainability, employment generation, poverty alleviation, and simultaneous global production competitiveness in the wake of consumer preferences is increasing among different stakeholders. With the burgeoning population it is also apparent that food security of the teeming millions will not be possible unless the available resources are efficiently utilized in order to increase productivity. Organic agriculture is the process of effectively using available natural resources for the benefit of mankind. In organic farming, crops nutrient demands have to be met with organic manures which are not only low in essential plant nutrients, but also release them slowly. With the use of good agronomic practices, as well as proper crop management under organic production systems, there is an ample scope for production increasement. The book will explain integrated organic nutrient management under organic production systems for getting higher production and productivity. It will also cover horticultural plant propagation techniques under organic conditions. The book will state organic disease management and agroforestry-based cultivation of organic horticulture. Organic seed production technologies and practices for nutrient management will also covered in this book.

Introducing your Author Service Manager

Mr. Edi Lipovic

As an Author Service Manager my responsibilities include monitoring and facilitating all publishing activities for authors and editors. From chapter submission and review, to approval and revision, copyediting and design, until final publication, I work closely with authors and editors to ensure a simple and easy publishing process. I maintain constant and effective communication with authors, editors and reviewers, which allows for a level of personal support that enables contributors to fully commit and concentrate on the chapters they are writing, editing, or reviewing. I assist authors in the preparation of their full chapter submissions and track important deadlines and ensure they are met. I help to coordinate internal processes such as linguistic review, and monitor the technical aspects of the process. As an ASM I am also involved in the acquisition of editors. Whether that be identifying an exceptional author and proposing an editorship collaboration, or contacting researchers who would like the opportunity to work with IntechOpen, I establish and help manage author and editor acquisition and contact.
