About the book

Neonatal health has become one of the main challenges of the pediatrics scope. According to the technoscientific advances and the knowledge and skill of the professionals who take care of neonatal patients, the survival and viability of extremely premature newborns have been greatly improved today. Similarly, therapeutic strategies have also been developed to improve the prognosis and survival of severely ill term newborns. To face the complexity of these patients, an adequate therapeutic environment has been required with a competent health team, cutting-edge supplies and equipment, and rigorous care protocols.

This book will intend in a comprehensive approach to provide the reader with a comprehensive overview of the current state-of-the-art of neonatal care. Chapters on risk factors and etiology of prevalent and most important neonatal diseases, procedures for diagnosis and treatment for the newborn diseases, and experiences of the neonatal team, including all of the health professionals involved in neonatal care in different situations and contexts, will be included.
