About the book

Stroke is the third common cause of mortality or morbidity across the globe. Researchers are trying to identify causation as well as risk factors behind this dreaded disease. Aim is not only to minimize mortality associated with it but also to improve the quality of life in survivors. There is possibility that control of risk factors such as hypertension, diabetes, smoking and other may lead to reduction in its incidence. Newer vista in investigation such as MRI and its different sequences and blood flow study to brain apart from better understanding of pathophysiology leads to early diagnosis which is vital in reducing disabilities. Early recognition of disease by community dwellers and rapid transport to a hospital with dedicated stroke care set up is vital, Interventional angiographic management and surgical management of the disease is an upcoming field. Rehabilitation in survivors both during acute phase in hospital and later on at home needs to be organised through a multidisciplinary team so that stroke victim can be put to his work at the earliest. Ischemic stroke is practice field for paramedics, clinicians, researchers and community professionals.

Introducing your Author Service Manager

Ms. Marijana Francetic

As an Author Service Manager my responsibilities include monitoring and facilitating all publishing activities for authors and editors. From chapter submission and review, to approval and revision, copyediting and design, until final publication, I work closely with authors and editors to ensure a simple and easy publishing process. I maintain constant and effective communication with authors, editors and reviewers, which allows for a level of personal support that enables contributors to fully commit and concentrate on the chapters they are writing, editing, or reviewing. I assist authors in the preparation of their full chapter submissions and track important deadlines and ensure they are met. I help to coordinate internal processes such as linguistic review, and monitor the technical aspects of the process. As an ASM I am also involved in the acquisition of editors. Whether that be identifying an exceptional author and proposing an editorship collaboration, or contacting researchers who would like the opportunity to work with IntechOpen, I establish and help manage author and editor acquisition and contact.
