About the book

There are many forms of concrete and steel structural components existing in bridges. It is critical to analyse the behavior of these structural members under various conditions of loading, which is also essential in order to understand the efficiency and stability of bridges. The finite element analysis is an effective and efficient method to study these concrete and steel structural components existing in bridges. However, multiple early types of research based on analysis of performance for structural components were time-consuming as well; software and hardware were not feasible for researchers. Fortunately, in recent years, utilization of finite element analysis has increased because of the computational and analytical capabilities of modern and latest hardware and software. This method has been developed as the best option to analyse the concrete and steel structural components existing in bridges. Thus, the primary purpose of this book is to provide the content that will deal with the improvement of the ability to evaluate the performance of composite pre-stressed bridges through the finite element analysis and explore reliability for the finite element calculation to determine the structural behavior of composite pre-stressed bridges.

All chapters are copy-checked and typesetted before being published. IntechOpen regularly submits its books to major databases for evaluation and coverage, including the Clarivate Analytics Book Citation Index in the Web of ScienceTM Core Collection. Other discipline-specific databases are also targeted, such as Web of Science's BIOSIS Previews.

Dr Faham Tahmasebinia finalised a PhD in Civil – Structural Engineering in 2012 at the University of Sydney – Australia. He also holds ME and MPhil degrees in Structural Engineering from the University of Wollongong-Australia. Faham Tahmasebinia currently works at the School of Civil Engineering, the University of Sydney and the School of Mining Engineering, UNSW Sydney. Faham does research in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Materials Engineering and Rock mechanics. Their current project is 'Rock Mechanics, Rock Burst'.
