About the book
Worldwide there is an increasing demand for renewable sources of energy due to environmental concerns, which has led to significant research efforts to develop renewable sources of energy including energy conversion, storage and distribution. Undoubtedly, electrocatalysis will play a major role in these efforts. Electrocatalysis is a cross-disciplinary topic, that attracts scientists from various disciplines including chemists, physicists, engineers, biochemists and so forth. The aim of the book is to give an overview of various aspects of electrocatalytic processes. Firstly, it will give a brief description of electrocatalytic processes including industrial electrochemical processes, fundamental electrochemical reactions and emerging electrocatalytic processes.
The book will inform readers on new concepts in electrocatalysis including the design and preparation of an electrocatalyst, developments of highly active, cost-effective, novel and advanced materials in electrocatalysis and advances in electrocatalysis including the hybrid techniques that involve both chemical and electrochemical analysis with new possible concepts that are developed in electrocatalytic processes. Electrocatalysis is applied in various technological electrochemical processes such as fuel cells, batteries, sensor electrodes, electrolysis, organic electrosynthesis and so forth, the book will cover the current state of some of those processes.
Lastly, the book will inform the scientists on limitations/challenges in electrocatalytic processes and their theoretical implications.
