She won the lecturer competition in the department of Diabetes, Nutrition and Metabolic Diseases she became an Associate Professor in the same department at UMF Carol Davila.

About the book

Type 2 diabetes is a chronic metabolic disorder with a major impact worldwide. The incidence and prevalence of it in the world is constantly increasing and can be considered at this time, a real public health problem worldwide. The present book aims to achieve a comprehensive overview of the genetic, pathophysiological aspects as well as the methods of diagnosis, screening but also the management of diabetes and its complications. All the optimization of the lifestyle, nutritional intervention, and new therapies addressed to patients with Type 2 diabetes are important elements in the book.
Addressing pathologies related to diabetes is an important topic of the book, the relationship between cardiovascular, oncological, gastroenterological, oral and neuropsychological disorders and type 2 diabetes being continually explored. The patient with type 2 diabetes is complex, he must be managed from the basic affection but especially from the comorbidities and complications that can develop them.

Prevention in type 2 diabetes plays a major role and the education of the patient in this regard should play an important role. Another important aspect is the adherence of the diabetic patient to the treatment as well as the management of the complications, knowing that most of the patients need continuous education.

All chapters are copy-checked and typesetted before being published. IntechOpen regularly submits its books to major databases for evaluation and coverage, including the Clarivate Analytics Book Citation Index in the Web of ScienceTM Core Collection. Dr Pantea Stoian is a diabetes, nutrition and metabolic diseases specialist, a senior specialist in health food hygiene, a resident in nephrology, and is competent in medical aesthetics and general ultrasonography. She has held an Associate Professor in the Diabetes, Nutrition, and Metabolic Diseases Department since 2019 at “Carol Davila” University of Medicine, Bucharest, Romania. Her field of activity is closely related to the micro- and macro-vascular complications in diabetes as well as their new therapies. Its main directions of activity are nutritional intervention in chronic pathology, as well as cardio-renal-metabolic risk assessment, and diabetes in cancer. In diabetes, she is currently engaged in new therapy and technology tools that screen and prevent diabetes and educate patients. She is a member of the European Association for the Study of Diabetes, Cardiometabolic Academy, Romanian Society of Diabetes, Nutrition and Metabolic Diseases, Romanian Diabetes Federation and Association for Renal Metabolic and Nutrition Studies. She has authored or co-authored 110 papers in national and international peer-reviewed journals.

Introducing your Author Service Manager
