According to the World Health Organization (WHO), ""Hygiene refers to conditions and practices that help to maintain health and prevent the spread of diseases.” Hygiene can be considered as good personal habits or personal and household hygiene in general, but also from a more specific aspect as procedures for clean drinking water, handling of waste waters, wastes and food safety management. With the awareness of the importance for adequate hygiene in the medical environment, it is essential to emphasize medical hygiene with practices to prevent or minimize the spread of infectious disease. Knowledge and correct use of disinfectant products and sterilization procedures are essential for effective implementation of hygiene, where possible promotion of bacterial resistance need to be taken into consideration.
