About the book
Titanium dioxide is a chemical compound with a very wide range of applications. Its catalytic and, more precisely, photocatalytic properties, hydrophilic and bactericidal properties are also known and used. This compound is included as a filler in medical preparations, as a pigment component in cosmetics, in construction finishing materials, films, glass, paints and many others. There is a number of controversies about possible harmful effects of titanium dioxide on human health, especially in UV protective preparations, toothpastes and even in food. This book aims to present the current state of knowledge in the selection and production of the proper form of titanium dioxide, the unambiguous definition of the areas of possible and safe use of this compound, also in the form of nanoparticles. It would be beneficial to present the results of research in the area of carcinogenic and anti-carcinogenic interactions of this compound and to define the actual impact in this area.
