About the book

Nonferrous metals are important for the development of national economies, people's daily lives, the defense industry, science, and technology. They are an essential part of basic materials and important strategic materials. Modernization of agriculture, industrial modernization, the modernization of national defense, science and technology are inseparable from the innovation of nonferrous metals. For example, large components required for manufacturing aircraft, missiles, rockets, satellites, nuclear submarines or other sophisticated weapons, atomic energy, television, communication, radar, computer, and other cutting-edge technologies are made from nonferrous metals. After the 19th century, the rapid development of science and technology promoted the discovery of many new nonferrous metal elements. At present, the nonferrous metals category mainly includes light metals (Al, Mg, Be, etc.), heavy metals (Cu, Ni, Co, Zn, Pb, etc.), rare metals (W, Mo, Zr, Nb, Ta, etc.) and precious metals (Au, Ag, Pt, etc.). This book intends to provide the reader with a comprehensive overview of the nonferrous metallurgy, nonferrous metals, and their alloys, and also the comprehensive utilization technology of nonferrous secondary resources.

Introducing your Author Service Manager

Mr. Vice Matušan

As an Author Service Manager my responsibilities include monitoring and facilitating all publishing activities for authors and editors. From chapter submission and review, to approval and revision, copyediting and design, until final publication, I work closely with authors and editors to ensure a simple and easy publishing process. I maintain constant and effective communication with authors, editors and reviewers, which allows for a level of personal support that enables contributors to fully commit and concentrate on the chapters they are writing, editing, or reviewing. I assist authors in the preparation of their full chapter submissions and track important deadlines and ensure they are met. I help to coordinate internal processes such as linguistic review, and monitor the technical aspects of the process. As an ASM I am also involved in the acquisition of editors. Whether that be identifying an exceptional author and proposing an editorship collaboration, or contacting researchers who would like the opportunity to work with IntechOpen, I establish and help manage author and editor acquisition and contact.
