About the book

This book aims to bring together the most recent information on bryophytes, including taxonomy, ecology, and the effects of climate change on the group. The objective is to gather as much information as possible from different continents, aiming to create a source of general and specialized consultation on the topics. Gather what has already been done, predict what would need to be studied to complete regional lists, and associate ecological aspects, including phytosociological and communities studies. How climate change affects biodiversity is one of the important topics as it is current for such a sensitive group. The proposition of revisions for little-studied groups and the proposition of practical keys for identification, the new techniques of taxonomic and ecological study and the availability of bryologists around the globe. What is the state of the art in research with the group and what the future will be like, are part of the answers that the different chapters will work on.

About the editor

Universidade Federal do Pampa

The editor studies the taxonomy and ecology of cryptogams mainly in Antarctica (with more than 20 expeditions) and South America, acting in field and laboratory work and in teaching taxonomy. The relationship mosses/lichens with other fungi is also studied. With more than 20 books and 98 scientific articles on those themes the editor is working all the time also to atrack and orientate more young scientist in this area. The association of these areas to environmental education is also done in Brazil, leaving new knowledge to the new generation.

Introducing your Author Service Manager

Mrs. Maja Bozicevic

As an Author Service Manager my responsibilities include monitoring and facilitating all publishing activities for authors and editors. From chapter submission and review, to approval and revision, copyediting and design, until final publication, I work closely with authors and editors to ensure a simple and easy publishing process. I maintain constant and effective communication with authors, editors and reviewers, which allows for a level of personal support that enables contributors to fully commit and concentrate on the chapters they are writing, editing, or reviewing. I assist authors in the preparation of their full chapter submissions and track important deadlines and ensure they are met. I help to coordinate internal processes such as linguistic review, and monitor the technical aspects of the process. As an ASM I am also involved in the acquisition of editors. Whether that be identifying an exceptional author and proposing an editorship collaboration, or contacting researchers who would like the opportunity to work with IntechOpen, I establish and help manage author and editor acquisition and contact.
