About the book

Skin graft plays an important role in closure of full thickness or deep partial thickness wounds. The success of the procedure depends on optimal wound bed preparation , appropriate procurement of the graft and its suitable fixation. Split thickness skin grafting procedure is simple and can be mastered easily by any surgeon. Certain wounds may require application of full thickness skin graft for aesthetic or functional purpose. Understanding this need is necessary for satisfactory outcome. The choice of skin graft donor site depends on the location of the recipient wound. Suitable care of the donor site is important in all patients and particularly so in those who need multiple sessions of skin graft procurement. Development and availability of skin substitutes is a great boon when the wound is large or of specific type. Knowledge of different types of skin grafts and skin substitutes is necessary for their appropriate use . The load of wounds is significant world-over. Spreading the knowledge related to everything about skin grafts will contribute significantly to reduction in wound load.

Introducing your Author Service Manager

Mrs. Mia Vulovic

As an Author Service Manager, my responsibilities include monitoring and facilitating all publishing activities for authors and editors. From chapter submission and review to approval and revision, copyediting and design, until final publication, I work closely with authors and editors to ensure a simple and easy publishing process. I maintain constant and effective communication with authors, editors and reviewers, which allows for a level of personal support that enables contributors to fully commit and concentrate on the chapters they are writing, editing, or reviewing. I assist authors in the preparation of their full chapter submissions and track important deadlines and ensure they are met. I help to coordinate internal processes such as linguistic review, and monitor the technical aspects of the process. As an ASM I am also involved in the acquisition of editors. Whether that be identifying an exceptional author and proposing an editorship collaboration, or contacting researchers who would like the opportunity to work with IntechOpen, I establish and help manage author and editor acquisition and contact.
