About the book
As we know every volcano has to be considered as a peculiar system and all the physical and chemical data have to be collected in order to understand how it works. In a case where a volcano has been deeply studied and much of its behavior is know, there are several isotope techniques together with petrology and geophysical data that can help us to forecast when possibly a volcano can erupt. This, of course, has to be done only when a volcano is well known from the stratigraphic, volcanological (eruptive mechanism, volume, and other physical parameters), petrographic, petrological, and geochemical point of view. I would like to apply this methodology to the Somma-Vesuvius volcano and maybe to continue to other active volcanoes with high risk like the Somma-Vesuvius volcano.
This book gives the opportunity to overview and enlighten any historical volcano active on earth. Maybe just a few that can be published on this international special issue (nearly 510 volcanoes).
