About the book

Maternal and child health is an important public health issue because we have the opportunity to end preventable deaths among all women, children, and adolescents and to greatly improve their health and well-being. Far too many women, infants, and children worldwide still have little or no access to essential, quality health services and education, clean air and water, and adequate sanitation and nutrition. Factors influencing the development of diseases in women and children are many, depending on genetic factors, the way the child is born, the habits of the mother during pregnancy in the diet, the use of antibiotics during pregnancy. Health depends on the climate, lifestyle, the presence of certain foods in the diet, lack of supplements, education, ethnic and racial divisions. Are we educated enough about health? How much do we know about how to be healthy? Is health a decision of our free will with less financial investment and more knowledge? Health - the art of living in harmony with nature or the disease of a modern society burdened with financial power?

Introducing your Author Service Manager

Mrs. Dajana Jusic

As an Author Service Manager my responsibilities include monitoring and facilitating all publishing activities for authors and editors. From chapter submission and review, to approval and revision, copyediting and design, until final publication, I work closely with authors and editors to ensure a simple and easy publishing process. I maintain constant and effective communication with authors, editors and reviewers, which allows for a level of personal support that enables contributors to fully commit and concentrate on the chapters they are writing, editing, or reviewing. I assist authors in the preparation of their full chapter submissions and track important deadlines and ensure they are met. I help to coordinate internal processes such as linguistic review, and monitor the technical aspects of the process. As an ASM I am also involved in the acquisition of editors. Whether that be identifying an exceptional author and proposing an editorship collaboration, or contacting researchers who would like the opportunity to work with IntechOpen, I establish and help manage author and editor acquisition and contact.
