About the book

Nanomaterials received increasing consideration in many technological advancements owing to their distinct physical-, chemical-, and biological properties compared to their bulk counterparts. The emergence of nanomaterials created a significant impact on fundamental science, academic research, and commercial applications.

This book primarily focused on recently developed novel synthetic approaches such as topochemical synthesis, exfoliation techniques, and physical/chemical methods to prepare novel nanomaterials with various morphologies such as sheets, rods, core-shell, and hybrid heterostructures, etc. Additionally, this book also describes (i) advanced characterization tools used for nanomaterials, (ii) nucleation and growth kinetics of nanomaterials, and (iii) size and structure-dependent properties of nanomaterials. Further, this book also focuses on the functional applications of nanomaterials in various fields viz. nanoelectronics, photocatalysis, electrocatalysis, sensors, biomedical applications, energy harvesting-, conversion-, and storage- sectors.

We believe that this book offers a broader perspective to the readers about the recent trends in nanomaterials research, starting from basic science to industrial application.

Review results due: November 2nd 2020

Full chapter manuscripts are screened for plagiarism and undergo a Main Editor Peer Review. Results are sent to authors within 30 days of submission, with suggestions for rounds of revisions.

Book compiled, published and promoted

Expected publication date: January 1st 2021

All chapters are copy-checked and typesetted before being published. IntechOpen regularly submits its books to major databases for evaluation and coverage, including the Clarivate Analytics Book Citation Index in the Web of ScienceTM Core Collection. Other discipline-specific databases are also targeted, such as Web of Science's BIOSIS Previews.

Dr. K. Karthikeyan received his Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering from Jeju National University, Republic of Korea. He is currently working as a contract professor in the Major of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Applied Energy System, Jeju National University, Republic of Korea. His research works are focused on Raman spectroscopic analysis of low dimensional materials, development of next-generation energy harvesting and storage devices using two-dimensional nanostructures beyond graphene. With a Hirsch index of 41, Dr. K. Karthikeyan’s great research achievements have resulted in three patent applications and more than 100 research articles in ISI International publications. Moreover, he received several prestigious research and teaching awards. His groundbreaking inventions in two dimensional materials have resulted in the development of next-generation nanopaints, high performance energy storage and harvesting devices and self-powered systems. Also, he has worked on advanced catalysis (photocatalysis), antibacterial nanocoatings, and nanotherapy of cancer. He was invited as a reviewer in many potential ISI journals such as Carbon, ACS Applied Materials and Interfaces, Biomaterials, Materials & Design, Journal of Alloys and Compounds, International Journal of Hydrogen Energy, Materials Chemistry and Physics, and so on. r. Hülya Şenol graduated from the Biology Department, Atatürk Education Faculty at Marmara University, Turkey in 1991. She has completed two master degrees, one in the field of Educational Sciences, Eastern Mediterranean University, Cyprus and one in Molecular Medicine, Near East University, Cyprus. Dr. Şenol holds a Ph.D. degree in Educational Administration, Management, Inspection, and Economy. She is a multidisciplinary researcher and has 28 years of teaching experience. From 1991 to 2011, she worked at many colleges in Turkey and in North Cyprus as an instructor, ISO 9001 committee member, and deputy principal. Dr. Şenol is a senior instructor in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences at Eastern Mediterranean University. She has earned many certificates about the education of trainers in Montessori education, educational sciences, and molecular medicine. Her current research interest areas are Educational Leadership, School Culture, Total Quality Management in Education, Service Quality in Education.
