About the book
Over the last few years, numerous cardiologists have expressed an interest in selection of books they should read to understand cardiac pacing and implantation technique. The efforts of authors of this book will be directed in that direction, to help general cardiologists understand cardiac pacing and conditions that require therapy. This book will provide a comprehensive review of the basic and clinical aspects of cardiac pacing.
The history of pacing, the newest devices with home monitoring as well as electrophysiologic aspect of cardiac pacing, with an illustration of the standard surgical implantation procedures will be discussed. Major pacing trials will be mentioned to highlight the benefits of the therapy in both sinus node disease and AV block. The rapid evolution of pacing technology will also be touched upon as we will devote a part of the book to pacing algorithms. The book will also discuss cardiac resynchronization therapy, left ventricular pacing leads and ICDs.
