About the book

A lot of scientists use food webs to describe and analyse ecological communities and ecosystems from this specific but very important viewpoint. Food webs are very complex adaptive ecological systems, which has central role in nowadays pure and applied ecological researches. By comparing food webs from different ecological communities, habitats, environments and by encompassing organism from procariotic to vertebrates level (and as from tropics to arctic zones, as from oceans to rainforests) we can find several important patterns and rules. Insights from ecological network analysis provide new and interesting methods, tools and approaches for thinking about our planet and biosphere. Food web research also has very high Human Ecological importance in Agriculture and Public Health from Food Safety and Food Security points of view. I am sure that this book will be very useful for everybody – researchers, teachers, students or others interested in the field - who would like to get some insight to this area of research.
