About the book
Dentists regularly encounter oral lesions in practice. A variety of lesions can occur in the oral cavity, and in some cases, these lesions can also be associated with dermatological disorders or with an underlying systemic disease. For proper diagnosis of oral lesions, detailed patient history, extra-oral and intra-oral examination and in some cases biopsy, microbiological sampling and blood tests are required. Referral to a dermatologist or specialist in internal medicine may also be be indicated. After the diagnosis of a lesion is made, an appropriate treatment method should be considered.
Some lesions are treated medically while some require more complex methods such as surgery, cryotherapy and soft tissue laser application. The aim of this book is to provide the readers with a comprehensive literature overview about the diagnosis and treatment of oral lesions.
