About the book
Speech recognition is one of the most important topics in the field of computer science and electrical engineering. Natural speech, when it is received through a sensor, e.g. a microphone, has to undergo a series of speech processing steps for us to completely recognize it.
The steps include, but are not limited to:
(1) preprocessing to remove interference like noise or music,
(2) source separation (if any),
(3) segmentation, windowing, etc.,
(4) feature extraction,
(5) use of machine learning technique to classify or recognize speech.
Moreover, human-computer interaction through speech is one of the most difficult tasks. This is because each human being speaks in different ways in the presence of noise by following or not following the grammatical structure of the language. This makes it difficult to completely understand or recognize it.
This book is intended for those who would like to present their research and who are working in the area of speech recognition. This book contains a detailed overview of speech recognition techniques and advanced level research carried out by researchers from reputed institutions.
