About the book

Audiences for mass communication are diverse, across the globe. However, remote they may be, the populace has to be informed of the development of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), that is ever changing at a faster rate than before. Hence, the audiences, no matter where they live, have to keep abreast with such changes. This is important for the audiences so that they are well informed and are able to follow the world news as if it is at their doorstep. Various types of mass communication are looked at, that is, through the electronic media (television and radio), print media (newspaper and magazine), digital media (social media platforms), verbal mass communication (political campaign strategies and public announcement), among others are called for so that world is a global village, well-connected through the social network sites that are easily accessible to all with the modern technology. The sharing of current information among the renown authors from various countries can help in updating the state-of-the-art for others to gain knowledge not only about their surrounding atmosphere but also else the rest of the world. Hopefully, this can open up readers' mind to be more understanding of each other to enhance peace and harmony in this world of ours.

Date completed: September 17th 2019

Applications to edit the book are assessed and a suitable editor is selected, at which point the process begins.

Chapter proposals submitted and reviewed

Deadline Extended: Open for Submissions

Potential authors submit chapter proposals ready for review by the academic editor and our publishing review team.

Approved chapters written in full and submitted

Deadline for full chapters: December 7th 2019

Once approved by the academic editor and publishing review team, chapters are written and submitted according to pre-agreed parameters

Full chapters peer reviewed

Review results due: February 25th 2020

Full chapter manuscripts are screened for plagiarism and undergo a Main Editor Peer Review. Results are sent to authors within 30 days of submission, with suggestions for rounds of revisions.

Book compiled, published and promoted

Expected publication date: April 25th 2020

All chapters are copy-checked and typesetted before being published. IntechOpen regularly submits its books to major databases for evaluation and coverage, including the Clarivate Analytics Book Citation Index in the Web of ScienceTM Core Collection. Other discipline-specific databases are also targeted, such as Web of Science's BIOSIS Previews.

Saodah Wok

International Islamic University Malaysia

Saodah Wok is a Professor at the Department of Communication, International Islamic Univerity Malaysia (IIUM). She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, in Mass Communications, specializing in Organizational Communication and minoring in applied statistics. Her MSc is in Development Communication from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), specializing in Journalism and minoring in Continuing Education. She holds Bac. Agric. Sc. (Hons) from University of Malaya (UM). She has written books, chapters of books, journal articles, and presented papers at both international and national conferences with awards received. She is an ardent researcher and teaches Communication Theory, Research Methods, Statistics for Communication Research, Organizational Communication and Intercultural Communication among others at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. She is an Associate Editor to Intellectual Discourse (SCOPUS), IIUM and in the Editorial Board for Asian Journal of Applied Communication (AJAC), UPM and Forum Komunikasi, UiTM.
