About the book

When the effects of nutrition on health are examined, the importance of food diversity is emphasized. Numerous nutrients and other non-nutritional components are taken into the body with food diversity. The main feature of the Mediterranean diet is that it has a variety of nutrients. Plant-based foods such as vegetables, fruits, bread, and other cereals, legumes, and oilseeds are often included in the Mediterranean diet. In addition, olive oil is preferred as the main source of fat in the Mediterranean diet. Obtained results show that nutrition is effective on cancer formation and that many compounds and nutrients have antioxidant, antiproliferative, and antiangiogenic properties and can reduce tumor growth in the Mediterranean diet model. The Mediterranean diet model is also defined as a healthy diet model due to its balanced nutrient pattern and sustainability.

This is the most current book available for the Mediterranean diet. As a comprehensive book, it discusses the Mediterranean diet and its effects on health besides protective effects on health. It was written by leading researchers in the field, it will be of interest to a wide range of researchers in both the food industry and academia.

The topics will cover Health Benefits of the Mediterranean Diet, Sustainable Food Systems and the Mediterranean Diet, Mediterranean Diet, and Relationship of Life Quality and Impact of Mediterranean Diet on Cancer. All scientists dealing with nutrition and quality of life will be able to benefit from this comprehensive book. As a result, researchers will realize the fact that the Mediterranean diet is the optimal diet for improving quality and duration of life and preventing non-communicable diseases.
