About the book
The subject of the book concerns the current state and prospective development of internal combustion engines used as power drives for a variety of machines, vessels, and off-road vehicles. Although these engines share many common features with car engines, they are characterized by considerable diversity in their design, technology and in terms of generated power level. Therefore, the scientific problems, research and achieved results discussed and presented in the chapter contributions for this book can cover a wide spectrum of topics in the field of technology and applications of non-road engines. An adverse impact of internal combustion engines on the environment, including their non-road applications, are still and invariably important. Consequently, special attention is devoted to research and measures toward preventing the emission of harmful exhaust components, reducing fuel consumption or using renewable, green fuels for feeding this type of engines in different applications. The relevance of the presented topics is still important, despite the noticeable strong pressure to use electric power sources, for example in the transportation area.
