Dr. Pengzhong Li is a Professor in the School of Mechanical Engineering at the Tongji University, China. He is the Director of the Intelligent Manufacturing and Services Branch of China Creative Studies Institute and Director of the East China Branch of the National College Institute of Manufacturing Automation. His research interests include intelligent manufacturing systems and quality control technology, and man-machine coordination in the application of artificial intelligence.

Dr. Liang Luo is currently an assistant professor Sino-German College of Postgraduate Studies (CDHK) at Tongji University. He received his Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Tongji University of China in 2019. Dr. Luo is a member of the Intelligent Manufacturing and Services Branch of China Creative Studies Institute. His research interests include Manufacturing Informatics of Intelligent Manufacturing Systems, Quality Management, and Human-Robot Collaborative Assembly.

About the book

In the intelligent era, in order to flexibly meet the personalized customer demand, the manufacturing system is required to carry out all-round innovation in technology, equipment, organization mode, and development mode, promoting all links of mass data collection, transmission, processing, and application in the whole product life cycle. With the manufacturing environment becoming more and more complex, its smooth operation strongly depends on whether the system has good robustness. Robust control plays an increasingly important role in the control of the modern manufacturing system. At the micro-level, the robustness of the manufacturing system is reflected in the collaborative and coherent effects among the components at all levels of the system, and at the macro level, it is reflected in the ability of the manufacturing system to maintain the desired external behavior or structural characteristics.

Focused on modern manufacturing systems, this book intends to provide the reader with a comprehensive overview of the current state-of-the-art in robust control research and its innovative application in manufacturing information systems and intelligent manufacturing.

Approved chapters written in full and submitted

Deadline for full chapters: December 11th 2021

Once approved by the academic editor and publishing review team, chapters are written and submitted according to pre-agreed parameters

Full chapters peer reviewed

Review results due: March 1st 2022

Full chapter manuscripts are screened for plagiarism and undergo a Main Editor Peer Review. Results are sent to authors within 30 days of submission, with suggestions for rounds of revisions.

Book compiled, published and promoted

Expected publication date: April 30th 2022

All chapters are copy-checked and typesetted before being published. IntechOpen regularly submits its books to major databases for evaluation and coverage, including the Clarivate Analytics Book Citation Index in the Web of ScienceTM Core Collection. Other discipline-specific databases are also targeted, such as Web of Science's BIOSIS Previews.

Dr. Pengzhong Li is a professor in the School of Mechanical Engineering and a teaching director in the Sino-German School of Postgraduate Studies (CDHK), Tongji University, Shanghai, China. He received his Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering from Tongji University in 2004. From 1995 to 2001, he was the manager in the Business and Warehousing Management Departments of Guilin Daewoo Bus Co., LTD. He is a Director of Intelligent Manufacturing and Services Branch of China Creative Studies Institute and Director of East China Branch of National College Institute of Manufacturing Automation. Dr. Li’s research interests include intelligent manufacturing systems and quality control technology in manufacturing. At present, he is committed to research on man–machine coordination in the application of artificial intelligence.
