About the book

Fault tolerance refers to the ability of a system including a computer, network, and cloud cluster that works without interruption even when one or more of its components fail. The main motive is to develop the fault-tolerant system to prevent failures for ensure no loss of service. In Hardware systems backup method is followed. In Software systems once failure occurs operations can be automatically redirected to the second database. Also in the Power sources, alternative sources are used as generators for electricity failures. It can play a vital role in a disaster recovery strategy. Both high availability and fault tolerance are essential functions during minor failures and in the event of a disaster.

The following research topics in the book will attract not only industrial communities, but also researchers. This book aims to provide readers with downtime -in terms of micro seconds to be fixed to avoid service interruption, scope -shared set of resources could be built to manage failures and minimize downtime, minimizing cost –a fault tolerant system can be costly but we need the continuous operation and maintenance.

Hence this book aims to cover fault-tolerant design and high availability that are interlinked to avoid interruptions to provide good services even in complex situation.

Prof. P. Balasubramaniam was awarded Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in 1994 in the field of Mathematics with specialization in the area of Control Theory from the Department of Mathematics, Bharathiar University, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, India. Now he is rendering his services as a Professor, Department of Mathematics, Gandhigram Rural University, Gandhigram, India, from November 2006 to this date. He has worked as a Visiting Research Professor at Pusan National University, Pusan, South Korea and in the Institute of Mathematical Sciences, University of Malaya, Malaysia. He has published more than 260 research papers in various SCI journals holding impact factors. He is serving as a reviewer of many SCI journals and is a member of the editorial board of several Journals. Prof. P. Balasubramaniam is also an Editor-in-Chief of the journal Modern Instrumentation, Scientific Research Publishing Inc. (SCIRP), and Associate Editor of Neural Processing Letters. He is the recipient of Tamil Nadu Scientist Award (TANSA) in 2005 and Tamil Nadu Senior Scientist Award 2018 for the discipline of Mathematical Sciences. He received the Mid-Career award by UGC, Govt. of India, New Delhi in the year 2019 and was among the top 2% recognized scientists in India in the same year, in the field of artificial intelligence and image processing, by Stanford University, USA. His research interests include control theory, stochastic differential equations, computing, stability analysis, cryptography, neural networks and image processing.
