Dr. Hassan obtained his Masters at Sheffield University, UK, and his Ph.D. from King Abdulaziz University, Saudi Arabia. He is a consultant and researcher of medical microbiology whose team recovered a new gene for Streptococcus anginosus which is registered in the DNA Data Bank of Japan. He is a member of the American Society of Microbiologists.

About the book

This book will present up-to-date information about Streptococcus infections, including the detailed pathogenesis and the genetic material involved that enhance the microbial effect. The expressions of the virulent factor genes and mechanism of actions provide the way to control the infection. A new treatment plan for chronic pharyngitis especially in children, mastitis, meningitis, etc.

In addition to that, affording the latest method to avoid endocarditis especially during tooth extractions, impact of the immune system to the self-body organs, and other infection complications.

Improve the treatment plan by providing rationalized information to the health care workers, which will have a positive impact on patient safety. Improving the quality of the work will have a constructive reflection on the health care economy and that will imitate to the several companies including insurance, pharmaceutical, etc. Emerging of multi-drug resistant Streptococcus is a challenge to the hath car services. new treatment approaches and nanoparticles are a future horizon to improve patient safety and the effectiveness of the health care outcome. Dr. Hassan A. Hemeg completed his Masters in Pathological Science at the Sheffield University, UK, and Ph.D. from King Abdulaziz University, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. He has earned several honors such as a Fellow of the Institute of Biomedical Science, UK, and Certified Canadian Accreditation Specialist for Health Care Facilities. He acquired training in Microbiology from Sheffield and Bristol Universities, the U.K. and U.S. Department of Labor, Occupational Safety and Health Administration. He is a member, Secretary, and Chairman of several Committees. His research interest is in the field of antimicrobial resistance. He has published several papers in Journals of International repute and is co-editor of few books. Presently, he is an Associate Professor and consultant of medical microbiology in the Department of Clinical Laboratory Sciences, Faculty of Applied Medical Sciences, Taibah University, Madina, Saudi Arabia where he also served as Vice Dean.

Introducing your Author Service Manager

As an Author Service Manager my responsibilities include monitoring and facilitating all publishing activities for authors and editors. From chapter submission and review, to approval and revision, copy-editing and design, until final publication, I work closely with authors and editors to ensure a simple and easy publishing process. I maintain constant and effective communication with authors, editors and reviewers, which allows for a level of personal support that enables contributors to fully commit and concentrate on the chapters they are writing, editing, or reviewing. I assist authors in the preparation of their full chapter submissions and track important deadlines and ensure they are met. I help to coordinate internal processes such as linguistic review, and monitor the technical aspects of the process. As an ASM I am also involved in the acquisition of editors. Whether that be identifying an exceptional author and proposing an editorship collaboration, or contacting researchers who would like the opportunity to work with IntechOpen, I establish and help manage author and editor acquisition and contact.
