About the book
As scientists and health professionals, information regarding the metabolism of a given drug is a key aspect to its development, regulatory approval, and eventual use in patients. The sciences of drug metabolism are advancing rapidly; the objective of this book is to provide a multidisciplinary presentation regarding related topics that range from introduction of current best practices in clinical research to recent technical advancements. The determination of a drug's metabolic fate, the enzymatic pathways involved, the pharmacology of metabolites produced, the impacts of drug-drug or drug-disease interactions, slowly evolves during the non-clinical and pre-clinical development. Contributions to this project will provide the reader with a better understanding of the vast amounts of emerging information even outside his or her area of expertise. Comprehending the methods and science involved in determining the metabolic pathway and its implications will allow scientists and health professionals to interact on a new level and allow improved application of drug metabolism information provided in drug labeling and literature.
