About the book

This book aims to include common orthopedic problems of all age groups, patient presentation, diagnosis methods and evidence based treatment and guidelines. Including common orthopedics problems for children, adolescent , adult and seniors will make the volume interesting and attractive reference material for all age groups. In pediatric group, foot problems like club feet, in-toeing, flatfeet, bunions, toe walker, metatarsus adductus etc. are very common. Some of those problems require treatment whilst some get better with age. Other conditions like developmental dysplasia, limb length, Perthes disease, Slipped capital femoral epiphysis also occur frequently. The book will also include topics dealing with adult group sport injuries mechanism, diagnosis and evidence based treatment as well as rheumatoid arthritis and other forms of arthritis. New medication has changed the outcome of rheumatoid disease as such and we do not see many deformities nowadays, which will also be addressed in the volume. Furthermore, the book aims to also include insight into osteoarthritis in adult to senior population, guidelines from various societies, association and evidence based approach, geriatric fractures in osteoporotic bone, osteoporosis, osteomalacia, and rickets.

Full chapter manuscripts are screened for plagiarism and undergo a Main Editor Peer Review. Results are sent to authors within 30 days of submission, with suggestions for rounds of revisions.

Book compiled, published and promoted

Expected publication date: March 22nd 2020

All chapters are copy-checked and typesetted before being published. IntechOpen regularly submits its books to major databases for evaluation and coverage, including the Clarivate Analytics Book Citation Index in the Web of ScienceTM Core Collection. Other discipline-specific databases are also targeted, such as Web of Science's BIOSIS Previews.

Dr. Om Prakash Sharma is presently a Staff Orthopedic Surgeon at Essentia Health-St Mary Detroit Lakes, Minnesota USA with a vast experience in the field. After obtaining his medical degree, he obtained further experience as in orthopedic surgery and internal medicine at MGIMS, Sevagram, India, did an orthopedic residency at Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences, Nagpur University, India; pediatric orthopedic clinical fellowship at Sick Kids, Toronto; orthopedic residency at University of Toronto, Toronto, Canda; lower limb reconstruction (arthroplasty) fellowship at Mount Sinai Hospital, Toronto, Canada. Dr. Sharma is in possession of numerous international certifications in the field, has attended numerous international conferences and symposiums and authored many international publications. He is a member of Pediatric Society of North America (POSNA), American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, Canadian Medical Association, Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, Canadian Orthopedic Association and Ontario Medical Association. His field of interest includes: general orthopedic, hip and lower limb reconstruction, trauma, pediatric orthopedic.
