About the book
It is essential to understand the mechanisms of heat transfer that are involved in every activity including conduction, convection, phase-change and radiation. Furthermore, when designing heat-exchangers it is necessary to start with a theoretical approach, modeling the behaviour of the system, and it is vital to check the results obtained with a prototype and an experimental setup.
This book intends to provide the reader with an innovative perspective of fundamentals of heat transfer, recent works that develop a novel approach to understanding such a topic. It also tries to give an overview of different techniques for heat exchangers design, prototyping and it aims to show several applications where heat transfer is a key element of the whole process. Fields like renewable energies, waste-heat recovery, refrigeration systems, etc. Finally, this book plans to include a section with any educational resource connected with heat transfer that would be helpful to share, such as, workshop examples, laboratory setups.
