About the book

Gastrointestinal surgery includes the examination and treatment of various surgical diseases of the digestive tract from the oesophagus to the rectum, and surgical diseases of the liver, biliary ducts and pancreas. Gastrointestinal surgery also addresses diseases in some organs that are not part of the digestive tract, such as spleen and abdominal wall, and it is applied to treat several common cancers such as stomach, pancreatic and colonic cancers, and often general surgeons must solve these pathologies in emergency. Today with the help of new technologies and with the emergence of new approaches such as laparoscopy and robotics, digestive surgery is already the future. The purpose of this book is to illustrate the most relevant innovations in the field and to provide insights not only to specialists.
