About the book
The book "Precipitation" focuses on the formation, spatial distribution, and modeling of precipitation. It also contains the identification of extreme precipitation events, the transformation of rainfall into surface run-off and river discharge. Similarly, the impact of climate change on precipitation events and precipitation impact on the environment can't be ignored. This book intends to provide the reader with a comprehensive overview of the current state-of-the-art in modeling and forecasting precipitation based on spatio-temporal dimensions of available data. In the past two decades, the frequency and magnitude of extreme precipitation events have grown. This has led to the genesis of floods with disastrous consequences on human life, activities, and the environment. The recent scientific literature reveals that extreme precipitation events will be more frequent which entails that extreme flood events might become more frequent in different regions of the World. The book is useful for but not limited to graduate and post-graduate students of Geography, Environmental Science, Botany, Zoology, Geographic Information System and Rural, and Urban Planning.
