About the book

Home automation facilitates the human’s life by simplifying life using modern technologies, Ethernet shield, system database, and microcontrollers. The first implementation concept of home automation to establish a smart home has been proposed since 1980 to supply comfort to disabled persons. With the recent advances in technologies and cost reduction, the concept becomes more popular in daily life. The system integrates, communicates and control all electrical devices in homes with safety aspect. In addition, the smart automated home is considered an efficient energy-saving choice with the adoption of intelligent modern control technologies and distributed energy resources. Home automation technology is becoming highly used and presents an expanding market because of extreme demand. Revenues of home automation systems in Europe and North America reached US$ 12.8 billion in 2017. American Smart Home market has the potential to reach US$22.4 billion in 2020. This book proposes to grasp recent research in this field for Modeling, Control, Analysis, Monitoring, Internet Protocols, and Performance Optimization. Not limited to that, but also, Systems of Home Automation, Elements, Architecture, and Uilitizing Green Energy Distributed Resources are proposed too.

Applications to edit the book are assessed and a suitable editor is selected, at which point the process begins.

Chapter proposals submitted and reviewed

Potential authors submit chapter proposals ready for review by the academic editor and our publishing review team.

Approved chapters written in full and submitted

Deadline for full chapters: January 10th 2020

Once approved by the academic editor and publishing review team, chapters are written and submitted according to pre-agreed parameters

Full chapters peer reviewed

Review results due: March 30th 2020

Full chapter manuscripts are screened for plagiarism and undergo a Main Editor Peer Review. Results are sent to authors within 30 days of submission, with suggestions for rounds of revisions.

Book compiled, published and promoted

Expected publication date: May 29th 2020

All chapters are copy-checked and typesetted before being published. IntechOpen regularly submits its books to major databases for evaluation and coverage, including the Clarivate Analytics Book Citation Index in the Web of ScienceTM Core Collection. Other discipline-specific databases are also targeted, such as Web of Science's BIOSIS Previews.

Dr. Adel El-Shahat is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Georgia Southern University (GSU), USA. He is the Founder and Director of Innovative Power Electronics and Nano-Grids Research Lab (IPENG) at GSU. His research focuses on Electric Machines; Distributed Generation; Renewable Energy Systems; Neural Networks; Smart Grid Systems; Power Electronics; Power Systems; Energy Storage; Optimization; Power System Stability; Control Systems; and FACTS. He received several awards, recognitions and honors. He is an IEEE Senior Member, Senior Member in Institute of Research Engineers & Doctors and active member of many professional organizations. Dr. Adel El-Shahat is the Editor-in-Chief of International Journal of Convergence Computing, Inderscience Publishers and Reviewer for more than 60 journals and conferences.
