About the book

Membrane technologies are currently the most effective and sustainable methods utilized in diversified water filtration, wastewater treatment, as well as industrial and sustainable energy applications. This book will cover essential subsections of membrane separation processes, from the perspectives of technical innovation, novelty, and sustainability. As membrane processes are implemented at the majority of water treatment plants in the world, wastewater and water treatment and processes related to that, including reverse osmosis, membrane distillation, forward osmosis, pretreatments, novel materials enhancing membranes for water treatment, and other topics such as water desalination sustainability, would be an important section of this book. Other critical areas of membrane applications will likewise be targeted. Among these, hemodialysis ultrafiltration membranes, issues of bioincompatibility, biofuel processing and roles of membranes in process enhancement, process intensifications, and innovative configuration of reactive-adsorptive-extractive membranes will be discussed. This book offers a comprehensive overview of the latest improvements and concerns with respect to membrane fouling remediation techniques and various sub-titles of membrane separation processes, which will be an efficient resource for engineers.

Review results due: April 29th 2019

Full chapter manuscripts are screened for plagiarism and undergo a Main Editor Peer Review. Results are sent to authors within 30 days of submission, with suggestions for rounds of revisions.

Book compiled, published and promoted

Expected publication date: September 30th 2019

All chapters are copy-checked and typesetted before being published. IntechOpen regularly submits its books to major databases for evaluation and coverage, including the Clarivate Analytics Book Citation Index in the Web of ScienceTM Core Collection. Other discipline-specific databases are also targeted, such as Web of Science's BIOSIS Previews.

Dr. Abdelrasoul\'s research interests focus on Membrane Science and Technology for Energy, Water Sustainability and Biomedical Applications, Process Modeling, Simulation and Optimization of Complex Systems, and Nanomaterials for Advanced Technologies. Her research projects focus on modeling, nanoscale molecular dynamics and computational fluid dynamics simulations, optimization, designing, developing, and synthesizing novel evolutional membranes with an advanced customized morphology that can pave the way for the sustainable engineering in the following areas: (i) Optimal membrane technologies for water and wastewater treatment, and the multiplicity of usage scenarios for various applications; (ii) Biomimetic and bioinspired membrane. Her academic excellence was recognized by numerous scholarships and academic awards from North American institutions. In addition, Dr. Abdelrasoul is a licensed Instructional Skills and Educational Development Workshops Facilitator and a fellow of the Staff and Educational Development Association. Introducing your Author Service Manager

Ms. Marijana Francetic

As an Author Service Manager my responsibilities include monitoring and facilitating all publishing activities for authors and editors. From chapter submission and review, to approval and revision, copyediting and design, until final publication, I work closely with authors and editors to ensure a simple and easy publishing process. I maintain constant and effective communication with authors, editors and reviewers, which allows for a level of personal support that enables contributors to fully commit and concentrate on the chapters they are writing, editing, or reviewing. I assist authors in the preparation of their full chapter submissions and track important deadlines and ensure they are met. I help to coordinate internal processes such as linguistic review, and monitor the technical aspects of the process. As an ASM I am also involved in the acquisition of editors. Whether that be identifying an exceptional author and proposing an editorship collaboration, or contacting researchers who would like the opportunity to work with IntechOpen, I establish and help manage author and editor acquisition and contact.
