About the book

Doxorubicin chemotherapy it has been obtained from Streptomyces peucetius which is a bacterium species, considered as one of the dominant anti-cancer treatments which approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 1995, and it widely used for treating several types of cancers like: ovarian, breast, lung, uterine and cervical cancers, Hodgkin’s disease, soft tissue and primary bone sarcomas, and others.

But both of its usage and effectiveness are limited because of the critical side effects happened while using it and drug-resistance. Regarding side effects they mainly happened as a result of the free radicals produced by doxorubicin. While, drug-resistance is mainly happened because of gene mutation. Even many books published about doxorubicin but few if any focused on the molecular mechanism of doxorubicin’s critical side effects, on medicinal herbs that can be used to palliate and/or treat these side effects, and on gene mutation and drug-resistance.

Many researchers highly recommended future books, studies, and review studies to focus on these two points. Therefore, proposed book is trying to focus on these two points to elucidate all of them.

Introducing your Author Service Manager

Ms. Marijana Francetic

As an Author Service Manager my responsibilities include monitoring and facilitating all publishing activities for authors and editors. From chapter submission and review, to approval and revision, copyediting and design, until final publication, I work closely with authors and editors to ensure a simple and easy publishing process. I maintain constant and effective communication with authors, editors and reviewers, which allows for a level of personal support that enables contributors to fully commit and concentrate on the chapters they are writing, editing, or reviewing. I assist authors in the preparation of their full chapter submissions and track important deadlines and ensure they are met. I help to coordinate internal processes such as linguistic review, and monitor the technical aspects of the process. As an ASM I am also involved in the acquisition of editors. Whether that be identifying an exceptional author and proposing an editorship collaboration, or contacting researchers who would like the opportunity to work with IntechOpen, I establish and help manage author and editor acquisition and contact.
