About the book

The search for bioactive molecules for various uses and applications has been the subject of many studies. Active chemical molecules present in essential oils may represent an important alternative to improve the quality of life of humans and other animals. Essential oils have been used by world communities for centuries, in various areas and for various purposes such as medicinal, flavoring, perfumery, cosmetics, insecticides, fungicides, bactericides, among others. They are natural and biodegradable substances, generally nontoxic or with low toxicity to humans. Therefore, constant research in these areas represents an alternative to search for new, more efficient drugs with less side effects, as well as obtaining products and supplies. Innovative application chapters other than those listed in the topics will be well accepted. This book is intended to provide the reader a comprehensive overview of the state of the art on the diverse applications of essential oils in a variety of human activities, in an easy-to-follow format, and focuses on the most important evidence-based developments in the various fields of knowledge.
