About the book

The technological development in automation aims to modernize industrial processes, so that they can take place with minimal human operation. Automatics has wide applications in the command and control of various equipment, such as: industrial machines, technological processes, communications networks, ships, airplanes, vehicles, and so on, reducing as much human intervention as possible. With the help of the automation equipment, the mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, electronic, computers and assemblies formed from them are controlled. The use of the automation and control has as advantages the reduction of the physical work, the reduction of the energetic consumption, the reduction of the consumption of material, the increase precision of processing and of the quality of the products.
The book Automation and Control aims to publish original, previously unpublished, case studies, research, survey and tutorial works as chapters, on both applied and theoretical aspects, which are covered by book’s topics and keywords. Consequently, the authors may send chapters covering applications in manufacturing and industrial automation, advanced and intelligent control systems, robotics, computer controlled systems and other domains.

Publishing process

Book initiated and editor appointed

Date completed: October 15th 2019

Applications to edit the book are assessed and a suitable editor is selected, at which point the process begins.

Chapter proposals submitted and reviewed

Deadline Extended: Open for Submissions

Potential authors submit chapter proposals ready for review by the academic editor and our publishing review team.

Approved chapters written in full and submitted

Introducing your Author Service Manager

Mr. Josip Knapic

As an Author Service Manager my responsibilities include monitoring and facilitating all publishing activities for authors and editors. From chapter submission and review, to approval and revision, copy-editing and design, until final publication, I work closely with authors and editors to ensure a simple and easy publishing process. I maintain constant and effective communication with authors, editors and reviewers, which allows for a level of personal support that enables contributors to fully commit and concentrate on the chapters they are writing, editing, or reviewing. I assist authors in the preparation of their full chapter submissions and track important deadlines and ensure they are met. I help to coordinate internal processes such as linguistic review, and monitor the technical aspects of the process. As an ASM I am also involved in the acquisition of editors. Whether that be identifying an exceptional author and proposing an editorship collaboration, or contacting researchers who would like the opportunity to work with IntechOpen, I establish and help manage author and editor acquisition and contact.
