About the book
Amphibians or cold vertebrates belong to the most threatened class of vertebrates constitute three major taxa namely Anurans, Caudales, and Caecilians. Many places of the works already facing higher risk Amphibian biodiversity loss emanating from climate change, disruption of the food chain, pollution, overexploitation, etc. Habitat loss with decline in species is also a major concern and needs urgent attention to address these problems. Understanding the causes of losses is hampered by inadequate knowledge of the Amphibian fauna. Keeping this pressing issue in mind, the present book was conceptualized to provide comprehensive information on various aspects of Amphibians ranging from faunal resource status, the effect of climate change, role in the ecological food chain, application as representative of bioindicator, conservation strategies as well as disease-causing organisms associated with Amphibians. I hope the readers of the book will surely benefit from the contributions shared by various scientists working in the field.
