About the book

Foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) is a significant epidemic disease that threatens livestock industry in many parts of the world. Though some developed countries have stated that this disease has been completely eradicated, some sudden resurgence of outbreaks in recent years have shown that FMD still represents a continuous threat to livestock. This book deals with the different aspects of the FMD, from the date of its discovery and identification of its causative virus to its progression. It will include comprehensive and up-to-date information on basic research findings and applied developments contributing to FMD control. The control of the FMD and eradication in the various epizootiological zones, economic impacts of FMD as well as methods of dealing with the disease, will also be discussed in detail.
