About the book
This book on quality control intends to include discussion on current trends and applications. In doing so, it hopes to elaborate on cases stemming from a plethora of sectors. Today's anthropogenic era vividly testifies to climate change and its effects, as well as to a need for sustainability mandate changes, both in manufacturing companies, as well as service providers, with the emphasis being predominantly placed in supply chain management, calling – among others – for increased social responsibility, innovation, and visionary leadership. The wide use of sophisticated computer systems and artificial intelligence facilitated the transition to digital manufacturing and Industry 4.0 practices, diffusing – as such – a variety of digital technologies, whilst accentuating the need for modularity, de-centralization, virtualization, and know-how. Cloud computing and blockchains are endogenous tools to facilitate – in the former's case – global on-demand resources, minimizing direct user involvement, whereas the latter may be of paramount importance to Search And Rescue (SAR) organizations, operating in a dynamic and challenging environment.
