About the book

The scope of the book covers the application of technology and scientific principles to the design, operation, planning, and management of transportation infrastructure, mobility service, traffic, and travelers for various travel modes, in order to provide the safe, efficient, rapid, comfortable, convenient, economical, and environmentally sustainable movement of people and goods. Encouraged topics include design, development, and construction of a wide variety of asphalt and concrete pavement and bridge projects, as well as the use of new materials for construction and rehabilitation.

Furthermore, the book aims to include topics on planning, design, operation, and maintenance of safe and efficient transportation systems, such as roadways, railways, subways, and intermodal operations. Research focus of these topics is the relationship of demand (density of people, cars, public transit) and the supply (quantity and type of infrastructure components). Research on traffic data collection, modeling, and automated intelligence is also welcome.
