Biography

Dr. Mary Maj is a Professor at St. George’s University School of Medicine. She has been teaching genetics and biochemistry to medical students since 2011, and is the content expert for genetics at the school. Dr. Maj has a strong publication history in protein biochemistry, diagnosing patients with inborn errors of metabolism and other rare genetic disorders. She was the first to identify the molecular cause of pyruvate dehydrogenase phosphatase-1 deficiency and developed an assay to test for the disorder.

Biography

Dr. Felicia Ikolo is an Associate Professor in Department of Biochemistry, St. George’s University, School of Medicine, Grenada. Her doctoral research in the area of Proteomics was at Northumbria University, United Kingdom. Her research interests include biomolecules, enzymes & genetic diseases, including sickle cell disease. She is a fellow of the Institute of Biomedical Sciences, UK., and a member of Caribbean Association of Medical Technologists. She is also a member of Sickle Cell Association of Grenada.
