Ali Karami was born in Tehran, Iran in 1957. He is Associate Professor of Molecular Biology and Genetic Engineering and is a Medical Biotechnology expert at the Research Center of Molecular Biology, Baqiyatallah University of Medical Sciences. He received his PhD in 1996 from Copenhagen University Faculty of Medical Science in Denmark. Since 1991 he has been working on the molecular biology of Borrelia burgdorferi with gene cloning and protein expression for Lyme disease recombinant vaccine and other infectious disease agents. He has published several books and numerous articles in national and international journals. He is currently head of Microarray Research Group and working on rapid molecular detection technologies, recombinant proteins, DNA vaccines and bioinformatics.
