I described the first cases of Lyme borreliosis in Hungary in 1984. Introduced the first serological tests for Borrelia burgdorferi in Hungary in 1986. Isolated first Lyme sprochete in Hungary from ticks, cerebrospinal fluid and skin biopsy samples. Described the clinical symptoms and epidemiology of a new tick-borne rickettsiosis (TIBOLA). Described a new and simple, reliable method for intrathecal Borrelia antibody synthesis. Described the comparative immunoblot assay (COMPASS) that significantly increases the positive predictive value of Borrelia serology. Collected the largest population of Lyme borreliosis in pregnancy. Published guidelines for diagnosis and treatment of Lyme borreliosis.
