Christina Katsiari

Dr Katsiari is a Lecturer of Medicine and Rheumatology at the Faculty of Medicine School of Health Sciences, University of Thessaly, and a Consultant at the Rheumatology Clinic, University General Hospital of Larissa, Larissa Greece. Dr. Katsiari received her MD and Ph.D. degrees from the Medical School of National and Kapodistrian University, Athens, Greece. Following her degree she worked at the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research, Washington DC, USA, where her work under the mentorship of Professor George Tsokos launched the research on phosphatases in T cells in patients with lupus (RO1 grant). Dr Katsiari has served on the editorial board of Hellenic Rheumatology, as a regular reviewer in several journals (Lupus, Clinical Immunology, Open Rheumatology, FEBS Journal, Neurology). Since 2010 she has been at the University of Larissa. Her research interests include pathophysiologic mechanisms and targeted treatment of autoimmune diseases and particularly systemic lupus erythematosus, systemic sclerosis, and Adamandiades-Behcet’s disease. Dr. Katsiari has published more than 30 articles, reviews, and chapters in international and Greek scientific journals and textbooks, with an impact factor of more than 100, and more than 800 citations.
