Dr. Puneet Kaur Kochhar, MBBS, MD, DNB (India), MRCOG (UK) obtained her fellowship and diploma in minimal access surgery, and diploma in reproductive medicine and embryology (University of Kiel, Germany). She is currently working as consultant obstetrician, gynecologist and IVF specialist, at Bourn Hall Clinic, Cambridge, UK. Dr. Kochhar has previously worked as Assistant Professor, at Lady Hardinge Medical College and Smt. S. K. Hospital, New Delhi, India. She is a well-read author, with over 20 publications in international and national journals, and has contributed several chapters in various textbooks. Dr. Kochhar has presented numerous papers of scientific merit and guest lectures at various national and international conferences, and has several awards to her credit.

The second section discusses the use of transfusion in various clinical settings including orthopedics, obstetrics, cardiac surgery, etc. The third section covers transfusion transmitted infections, while section four describes alternative strategies to allogenic blood transfusion. The last section speculates over immunomodulatory effects of blood transfusion.
