Ken-Shiung Chen
Ken-Shiung Chen received both his M.A. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Texas, Austin, USA and held the position of an Assistant Professor at the Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, USA. Currently, he is an Associate Professor at the School of Biological Sciences, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. Dr Chen's research interests are focused on the elucidation of the molecular mechanism of chromosomal deletion/duplication syndrome as well as on epigenetic regulation in genomic imprinting. The human genome project and the concomitant race to map and sequence the mice genomes have created the basis for interspecies comparisons. Together with the recent advancement in mouse mutagenesis, conditional knockout and chromosomal engineering techniques have given us the ability to define gene function and to model human disease in a mammalian system.
